Listen before speaking

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. (James 1:19-20 NLT)

The book of James is full of wisdom and advice on how to live a Christian life.  Have you ever been in a situation where you heard part of what someone said, and you jumped to incorrect conclusions and became angry?  Once you were able to calm down and hear the rest of what they said you realized that you didn’t understand anything of what they were trying to say.  Your anger got in the way and you could not hear.  I have the same problem.  If I will wait and hear out the person I may get a different understanding.  We need to learn to slow down and listen before we speak.  Sometimes we need to ask questions so that we completely understand what is being said.  Funny how our mouth engages before our brain can catch up.
