Teach Us to Pray – Part 2

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 NIV)

   A – adoration and praise
   C – Confession
   T – Thanksgiving
   S – Supplication

The second part of the ACTS prayer outline is Confession.  Confession is cleaning out those things that are a hinderance in your walk with the Lord.  Sometimes you have forgotten or hid away things in your past that you don’t want to think about.  Ask God to bring to mind those things that need to be confessed.  You may be embarrassed and ashamed of your actions.  God understands.  He will help you to confess them.  He will forgive you completely.  Ask for His cleansing and for the strength to overcome anything that is hindering your relationship with Him.  You will come away refreshed.

Sample scriptures:  Psalm 139:23-24; Psalm 51:10-13; Jeremiah 31:34

Sample hymns:  Power in the Blood; Rock of Ages
