Salvation – Jesus Took Our Curse

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”), (Galatians 3:13 NKJV)

What is the curse of the law?  Moses lists the blessings of keeping the law in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 and the curses of disobedience in Deuteronomy 27:15-26; 28:15-68.  God’s law is good and holy but the law by itself cannot save us.  No matter how hard we try to keep the law, we always fail.  The curse or punishment for not keeping God’s law is death.  The law by itself has no provision for releasing us from the curse/punishment.  Jesus bore our sins when He died on the cross.  He took our curse/punishment upon Himself so that we can be released from it.  Faith in Jesus releases us from the curse/punishment of eternal separation from God.  The law is still good and holy, it is a guide on how to live.  It teaches us how to love God and each other.

Thank you, Jesus, for taking the punishment that we deserve so that we may be released from the curse of the law.  Amen.
