Healthy Food #9: Spinach

Spinach contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two immune-boosting antioxidants important for eye health.

Recent research found that among cancer-fighting fruits and veggies, spinach is one of the most effective.

Quick Tip:

Spinach is a healthy — and flavorless — addition to any smoothie. You won’t taste it, we promise! Try blending 1 cup spinach, 1 cup grated carrots, 1 banana, 1 cup apple juice, and ice.

Love is…

Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.  (1 Corinthians 12:31 NIV)

In Chapter 12 Paul lists the gifts given to the church to benefit and grow it.At the end of the chapter he says “but let me show you the best way.” He then goes into the 1 Corinthians 13 – which is known as the Love Chapter. Love is patient, love is kind….better than all our talents and gifts, the VERY BEST way is love. We can only love like that if the Holy Spirit is present in our lives.

Holy Spirit, please fill us up with Your love so our world can see You. Amen

(1)  If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

(2)  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

(3)  If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

(4)  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

(5)  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

(6)  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

(7)  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

(8)  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

(9)  For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

(10)  but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

(11)  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

(12)  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

(13)  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 NIV

As The Deer

If you just need a relaxing moment today, enjoy and praise God.

I CAN Do All Things

With God, all things are possible, so turn to Him not as your last resort, but your first choice.

Healthy Food #8: Garlic

Garlic is a powerful disease fighter that can inhibit the growth of bacteria, including E. coli.

Allicin, a compound found in garlic, works as a potent anti-inflammatory and has been shown to help lower cholesterol and blood-pressure levels.

Quick Tip:

Crushed fresh garlic releases the most allicin. Just don’t overcook; garlic exposed to high heat for more than 10 minutes loses important nutrients.

Feel Weak?

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. (2 Samuel 22:33-34 NIV)

When we rely on our own strength it will not get us far.  When we try to do it ourselves we bring much stress on our selves.  We make our lives harder and more difficult.
